Happy Anniversary...

Yesterday, my husband and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary. I can't believe it's been 13 years already. It feels like we just go married yesterday.

I am very fortunate to be married to the best man in the world. He is an amazing person, friend, husband and father...and he makes my life complete.

Pat...thanks for giving me the best years of my life (so far). I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you. I love you so very much!

For our anniversary, we went to the most amazing place – Mohonk Mountain (in NY State).

OMG it was so beautiful and peaceful. It was a perfect way to spend the day together. In the morning, we went on a trail ride in the mountains...

Then, we hung out on the porch and walked the grounds...

We had a yummy lunch, then it was off to the spa for a couples massage. The best massage I've ever had.

Happy Birthday to my baby...

Today is my son's, Logan, 8th birthday. It's hard to believe it's been 8 years since he was born. I always heard that once you have kids that time just flies by. Boy, they were right.

We had decided to find out what we were having (I just can't not know). We also knew that no matter what, our child would be named Logan. So, one day, we went shopping to get some clothes to fit my growing belly. Pat and Shay went next door to another store to kill time. About 20 minutes later, Pat & Shay come rushing in and Pat had this strange look on his face.

My adorable Shay was holding a beautiful teddy bear in a dress that had her name on it (which is rare). But just then, my husband began to say..."Shay also picked out a bear for the baby". He pulled the bear out of the bag. It was a boy bear (it had overalls on and not a dress). He then turned the bear towards me....it had the name Logan on it. Both Pat & I just froze. You see our daughter was only a little over a year old. She didn't know how to spell Logan, and all by herself, picked out this particular bear (out of about 60) which happens to have the name Logan on it. Too weird, right?

Well, a few weeks later we went for our ultrasound. The baby was healthy and it was a BOY. Both Pat & I just cried. Tears streamed down our faces with joy. We were so happy. After a few moments, we also realized that our cutie pie Shay had got it right...the boy bear with the name Logan was perfect. Imagine that!

Happy Birthday my dear Logan. You are my best buddy and I love you so very much. You have blessed my life in so many ways and I am very proud of you! You are my sunshine, 24/7/365.

I just want to say THANKS to all of my awesome customers for stopping by. It's so nice to see you every year and it's been a pleasure to make such memorable jewelry for you and your family.

Preparing for Irene

Well, I have to say I never thought I would have to get ready for a hurricane here in Connecticut. So, we cut our vacation short and came back from Hershey Park yesterday to get the house buttoned up.

So, my list is checked off.

Laptop, ipad and cell phone charged CHECK
Water bottles in the freezer and pantry CHECK
Tubs of water in the pantry CHECK
Bath tubs filled with water CHECK
Everyone showered and clean CHECK
Extra flashlights and batteries CHECK
Talked to Mom CHECK
Extra non-perishable food in the pantry CHECK
Took pictures of everything in the house in case one of our huge trees decides to crash into our house CHECK
Chilled on the couch and watched TV (just in case we lose power...had to get some TV time in) CHECK

Well, that pretty much sums it up. God Bless and be safe!

Cute Flower Pendants and Giveaway!

OMG. Isn't this pendant so cute? I had so much fun making it and it was so easy (thanks to Danelle Street for a great design idea).

I took a precut 1" flower stamping blank and stamped a design into the petals. I then made small folds in the metal to give the petals shape. I did the same to the smaller Gold Filled flower but just used a different design on the petals. I then attached them together with a hex nut, washer and bolt. Now all I have to do is throw it on a chain and it's good to go!

I can't wait to make more, especially smaller cutie ones for earrings. My mind is going WILD with other ideas. Do you have any ideas for me to try? Horrible Bosses Movie Review

I'm just love going to movies with friends, family and sometimes, just by myself (this way I get the popcorn to myself...yum).

Well, the other night I went to see Horrible Bosses with my sister in-law Debbie. Being two busy mom's, we needed a night out that included adult beverages and a good laugh. So here is my first attempt at reviewing a movie. Wish me luck.

Starring: Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and Jennifer Aniston

You never know this these kinds of movies whether you're going to laugh, be disappointed or walk out (which I have done before). So after 20 minutes of previews (enough already with the previews) the movie began. It started off a bit slow, mainly to give us the background on the three on the main characters and why they hate their bosses (guess I've been lucky, I've always had good ones).

I've always liked Jason Bateman. He's cute and has such a dry and calm delivery. The other two guys I didn't know much about, so was a bit worried, but I have to say, they were great (Jason Sudeikis was really good) together and played off each other really well. Charlie Day was a bit annoying because of his voice. It is so high I wonder if he ever went through puberty.

Okay, I'm rambling so I'll get to the juicy stuff. Jen Aniston was GREAT and really naughty in this movie. So different from her past characters and she looked AMAZING. Colin Ferrell was a freak, as always, and Kevin Spacey was just as good.

The movie was predictable, but I laughed my TUSHY off. The comic timing between the guys was great and I really enjoyed watching this movie. No, it won't win any Oscars, but for two mommies who needed a fun night out, it worked.

Burning up

Okay, it's totally, unbearably HOT already this morning and it's only 8:47am. OMG.

So, what does one do when it's (a) HOT; (b) have a broken AC unit; and (c) have two kids who are bored and hot? Hit the pool baby. Looks like I'm taking the day off. Stay Cool!

Caught Up

I can't wait to hit the boardwalk with the kiddies!

So, my Etsy shop is officially closed until July 20th. All orders placed prior to today are done and have shipped out. YEAH! I can't wait for you to receive your lovely orders. Don't forget to let me know how much like it by leaving me feedback.

All orders that are placed while I'm away (having a blast and probably freaking out when my kids want to do the scary rollercoasters) will be made and hopefully shipped out by July 25th.

It's going to be a crazy day today getting everything ready to go!

Getting the kids to swim lessons and later swim team practice while squeezing in a visit to my sister in-laws house to hang.
Finding someone to feed my fish.
Getting the dogs packed and ready to go to the kennel (of course, Amber hurt her leg today and is limping..ugh!)
And finally, getting the kids and myself packed for vacation. All this while my hubby is away at a meeting (isn't he lucky).

I just can't wait to get on the road tomorrow, pick up my hubby and hit the beach. Watch out Wildwood, the Sullivan's are coming.

My kids competed in their first Triathlon today and I am so proud of them. They were so amazing! We couldn't have had a better day at the beach. I was so nervous for them, but they held their own and had fun.

There were 84 kids in their age group and my son Logan finished 27th overall. WOW! He was so serious and he says he can't wait to do another one and win. Shay had some equipment problems and finished 79th. She was pretty upset about that, but still wants to do another one. I'm just a proud Mama today. Life is good!

Hats off to Team Mossman for a great event!

Wow - I did it! Cooking review!

So, my kids and I are hooked on the Cake Boss. We just LOVE Buddy. Now he has a show called the Kitchen Boss. One night, the kids and I were cuddled up on the couch to watch the Kitchen Boss make his Grandma Maddalena's Sausage Lasagna. My daughter Shay couldn't stop saying YUMMMMMM, my stomach was growling and my son Logan, just stared at the TV and licked his lips.

Since we were having family over on Sunday, I figured, "What the heck, let's try Buddy's recipe". Now, you need to know that I'm known for setting off the smoke alarm (that's what they get for putting it so close to the oven) and for ruining dinners so much so that we have to go out. I definitely inherited my cooking skills from my mother. She once burned boiling water and almost set our house on fire. Love ya mom!

Another thing you need to know is that my sister in-law Deb is a Staten Island Italian and can cook your pants off. So, I knew going in, that this could be a disaster. Because, if I screwed up, no one in my crazy family would EVER let me live it down.

To make a long story short, IT WAS AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, THE BEST LASAGNA EVER. Everyone loved it so much, even my picky kids. Of course I didn't take a picture of it so you'll just have to take my word or it.

Valentine's Day. What is your tradition?

The traditional Valentine's Day ritual is to exchanges gifts with loved ones in the name of Saint Valentine. Everyone celebrates this holiday differently or not at all. As my husband says, "It's a Hallmark holiday" and I tend to agree, because it can get out of control. But hey, I'm a girl and what girl doesn't just love to get flowers and chocolate at work.

My husband and I have been married for a little over 12 years, and not a day goes by that he, in some little way, shows me how much he loves me. It can be just that look in his eye when he makes me my morning coffee, the way he melts when our daughter runs and jumps in his arms, or the way his face lights up when our son does his goofy laugh. Ahhh, it just melts my heart.

So, enough of the sappy stuff. Years ago when our daughter, Shay was about 2, Pat (that's my hubby, yes...we are Pat and Patty) started bringing home flowers for her on Valentine's Day. The first time he did this she giggled with delight, plopped down in his lap and lathered him with kisses. Being a mommy, I of course had my camera out and ready. Thus was born our new Valentine's Day tradition. And when our son Logan was older, we included him in the flower giving as well.

Below are some of our Valentine's Day pictures we take every year. I love this tradition. I hope that one day, they'll do the same with their kids. In my opinion, everyday is and should be Valentine's Day. Life is short. Embrace it. Live it.

Meet our new family members...

Okay, I broke down and got the kids some fish. I know nothing about taking care of fish and have had to flush too many down the toilet in the past. But, the kids are so excited and they are pretty cute. I went out to Walmart and splurged on a 10 gallon tank kit, fake plants, rock, a roman structure, and jewels for the little buggers. They better not die on me especially since the kids named them all. Shay named hers Rocket (the white one with the orange head), Logan named his Max (bug eyed black one), mine is Pepper (the multi-colored one) and Pat's is Bob (the plain silver one).

If you have any advise on taking care of these guys (they are all goldfish), please comment. My son keeps saying to them (like they have any idea on who or what this giant is saying), "Please don't die. I love you". He even put his little stuffed animal next to the glass to keep them company. Too cute!

A Winter Wonderland in CT

Wow. We are still getting hit with snow here in CT. I haven't seen this much since I was a little girl in Missouri. So far, I'm guessing we have 18 inches and it's still coming down. Of course, my husband is out of town during this (something always happens when he is traveling), so I might have to do some shoveling. Luckily the driveway got plowed.

So, I guess the kids and I will just play at home and maybe go out and rebuild the fort when it stops snowing. I have to say...it sure is beautiful.

The view from our back deck. I plowed a path for the dogs to go out. Our 9 month old puppy Amber just loves the snow. She can barely walk thru it, but she's having fun.

My poor neighbor up the hill is plowing his driveway with a push plow. Poor Marc. Our roads haven't even been plowed yet. Ugh! The people across the street just moved here from Minnesota or Michigan, bet they wished they stayed there.

Getting closer and Snow!

My daughter's room makeover is moving along. I found this great quilt set for only $24 at Kmart and it goes perfectly in her room. Now we can accent in lime green as well. It's still a little to "blue" for me, but Shay just loves it. As soon as she gets home from school, she runs upstairs to her new desk, and does her homework.

As you can see, my husband hung the capiz shell chandelier without frying himself which is a feat (he's not the handiest man in the world). All of her storage drawers are already FULL (OMG she has a lot of stuff).

I'm waiting for the Hibiscus flower wall decals to come in which should break up the blue. I'm still trying to find an old mirror that we can decorate with shells and some old picture frames we can paint different colors to hang on her wall.

AH...SNOW!
Yes, we got a lot of beautiful snow here in CT. Big white and fluffy. Can't wait to go sledding.

My Latest DIY Project - Shay's room makeover

For my daugher's birthday, we said we would re-do her "baby" bedroom. Now that she is almost 9 (going on 16), she was sick of the pink and princess theme she had in her room.

After many discussion on what color/theme to do her room in (at first she wanted a black and blue room, UGH) she decided to do a "beach" themed room. Of course, she wanted me to paint waves on her wall (yeah...right), then she suggested painting the bottom half of the wall beige and put black specks all over it to look like sand (no way). I finally convinced her to just let me paint the walls and use pictures, art and wall decals to decorate. So, below is the before picture (taken when our house was on the market). Now, just picture about 30 posters on the bed wall of Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, and Selena Gomez, PLUS much more "crap" laying around her room. My daughter is a pack rate and not to neat at the moment.

Today is Day 3 of the makeover and it's really coming along. Shay and I went shopping at Ikea for her bed and a desk and she picked out a nice bed with tons of storage underneath (as you can see, the drawers under the bed aren't in yet, I'm getting to that today). She also picked the pretty aqua blue color. Here is where we are right now.

So, today I'm going to finish the storage drawers for the bed, put the desk together and order the hibiscus wall decals. I think they'll so cute. Hopefully my husband will get the Capiz Shell Chandelier up as well. I found a great comforter, but it's too expensive, so I'll have to keep searching. We have a lot of "crafty" stuff to do over the next week or so, so I'll keep posting progress pictures. If you have any ideas, just post them below.

We just got back yesterday from our FIRST trip to Disney World. OMG...what a magical place.

The kids had so much fun and even I went on some rides (Mission Space kicked by you-know-what).

I just want to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving and share a funny story.

Earlier today, my kids were talking to their grandma and she asked them what they were thankful for. Well, they rattled off the normal stuff (mom, dad, each other, the dogs), then after a long pause, my son said "I'm thankful for my blood". I think my mom almost pee'd her pants. Needless to say, it's never a dull moment in my house with that kid around. Man he made my day!

Happy Halloween

I just love this time of year. The beautiful fall leaves are softly hitting the ground and the colors are just beautiful. Halloween is also one of my favorite holidays because I love to decorate the house in warm colors, plus...I LOVE chocolate.

I hope everyone has a great spooky day. I'm recovering from knee surgery, so Pat is out with the kids trick-or-treating. I'm sure they are having a blast.

Goodies from the Show

I spent a few days recently at Bead Fest in Philly and had a blast. I learned how to make and solder a bezel onto metal, which I'm hoping to incorporate into my designs very soon. Below is a picture of what I made in Bezel Boot Camp.

I also, saw a demo about making fine silver stamped jewelry, and will be learning more about this technique in the months to come. And, of course, I did get a chance to do some shopping (yeah) and picked up some beautiful Chalcedony stones.

But, I have to say the highlight of my trip was spending time talking with Lisa Niven Kelly. I've taken classes from her before, but never had one-on-one time with her. She is an amazing artist and has been a big influence on me. I was able to pick her brain and have her autograph her book for me. I've learned so much from her. Thanks Lisa.

I'll be in the studio this week making orders, the will hopefully get some time to Create.

A family in need.

My neighbor has met a local Seymour CT family in desperate need of many things. This story is very touching and sad, and I'm hoping to help Cindy help this family. Below is the letter from Cindy and I hope you can help.

There is a family I feel compelled to help. They live in Seymour and are going through extensive medical and financial difficulties. I have met them and think the world of them.

I'd love to ask everyone I know for their support in helping out in any way that they can.

The family needs clothing. The wife needs anything sizes 12/14. Her son is size 16/18 (he's around 12 years old) and her daughter is size 7/8-10 (she's 7 or 8 years old). They can't afford their meds and had to cancel their auto insurance.

I truly feel compelled to help them out as much as I can. Yesterday, I bought the wife a new dress for work, the kids some clothes for school, school supplies and a little bit of food that I plan to drop off at their house later today. I'm hoping it will bring a little happiness and a sense of hope, maybe put a smile or two on their faces. Sadly, my own efforts will only make a tiny little dent in their terribly sad situation. That's why I'm reaching out to everyone I know to see if and how they can help.

If anyone has any clothing they can donate - used, new, it doesn't matter - in their sizes, I would love to collect it and deliver to them, on behalf of everyone with all our love! If anyone wants to donate any money, please do so. That will also help tremendously - it will all go directly to them. Backpacks, lunchboxes, food, cash, coats, clothes, household cleaning supplies, anything you can think of that a family will need will be greatly appreciated. I'll be starting to collect August 25th and hope to complete the collection by August 27th or 28th in order to deliver before school starts.

I would love to be able to make a cash collection in order to reinstate their auto insurance. Although they realize the importance of the auto insurance, they just can't afford that plus the medical bills AND meds for the kids!!

Please go through your things and put aside all that you think this family may need. I know they will greatly appreciate any/all the help you can give. Once I collect and package everything together, I'm going to send you all another email with a great big thank you AND a summary of all that we collected, items AND cash!!

So, I thank you all in advance. You've got just over a week to start sorting!!! ;)))
